Bon Iver - "Everything is Peaceful Love"

After announcing a new album, SABLE, fABLE, would be coming this spring, Bon Iver has shared a new song from the record called "Everything is Peaceful Love."

Back in October, Justin Vernon delivered a new EP entitled, SABLE,. It was the first new music from Bon Iver since 2020 and it seemed to mark a return to the acoustic sounds of his phenomenal debut album For Emma, Forever Ago. The style is something many fans have longed for as Vernon has moved towards more progressive pop music and when it was revealed that the EP would act as the opening section to the album, it seemed like we finally might get the return to sound form that so many have desired. Well, the new single "Everything is Peaceful Love" doesn't exactly follow the vibes of the EP and instead Vernon has given us one of his most straightforward pop numbers in years. Vernon has never hid his love for '80s and '90s soft-rock nostalgia, working in covers like Bonnie Raitt' "I Can't Make You Love Me" or the Outfields "Your Love" into his sets over the years and this track feels like his most honest attempt to finally write a song like that on his own. There's glassy synths and underlying, bubbly R&B beats that give the song some shuffle. There's a little hint of Phil Collin's knack for melodies woven in and Dire Straights' sense for grooves pops up in the chorus as well with florescent guitar lines that brighten things up and add to the track's sweetness. It's uncharacteristically hopeful and optimistic and for some, that may seem cheesy, but given our current world, it's exactly what so many of us need.

SABLE, fABLE is out April 11.
