SZA's last album, SOS, came out a little over two years ago, but its impact has still been rippling across the music industry and doesn't really feel like her momentum isn't really dying down (especially with an upcoming stadium summer tour with her friend Kendrick Lamar). Now, after many delays we have finally been gifted the "deluxe" edition of the album. Officially titled SOS Deluxe: LANA, it's got fifteen new songs (including "Saturn") which are all followed by the original tracklist from 2022. Now totaling almost two hours, it's an expansive and elaborate collection of songs and one of the early highlights from this edition is the track "Drive." Over a rather sparse and delicate guitar line, SZA delivers her phenomenal flow of intricate word play and undeniable talent. Once again reaffirming her status as a generational talent, this is SZA in the zone and fully locked in. Of course there are other highlights on this as well like her collab with K Dot and the interpolation of "Girl from Ipanema" on"BMF" and the wonderful, almost dream-like "Kitchen," but "Drive" sounds like SZA in her element, ready to go toe to toe with the best and cement herself as a permanent fixture worthy of all the hype and certainly well worth the wait.
SOS Deluxe: LANA is out now!
