Earlier this year, Wild Pink released the excellent EP Strawberry Eraser and they'll follow it up with a full-length album, Dulling the Horns, in October. Today the band has shared the record's second single, "Sprinter Brain," and it's another gem that fuses together shoegaze with heartland rock for an affirming tune that picks up the pace, pushing past the cruise control phase and moving into the left lane. “This song is kind of about learning how to deal with your problems and not catastrophizing,” John Ross (the band's primary songwriter) said in a statement. “Just trying to be more realistic and objective when times get stressful. It’s one of the faster songs I’ve written in a while and really fun to play live.” There's a chugging riff that gives this song more urgency and showcases how well the band can navigate a change that propels their songs into a new zone. As the momentum swells, things cool off slightly at the end before once again putting the foot on the gas to bring things home.
Dulling the Horns is out October 4.
