Jane's Addiction - "Imminent Redemption"

Jane's Addiction have shared their first new song featuring all of the original band members since 1990's Ritual De Lo Habitual.

Last year, Perry Farrell's band Porno for Pyros dropped their first single since 1996. They followed it up with a few more new tunes this year and a farewell tour. Now, Perry's main project Jane's Addiction have shared their first new song from the band's original line-up in 34 years. "Imminent Redemption" finds the band back together again for the first time in over three decades (founding member Eric Avery didn't play on 2003's Strays or 2011's The Great Escape Artist) and now that Dave Navarro has re-joined the group following his battle with long-COVID, the reunion of the '80s hard rocking alternative pioneers feels complete. The band debuted the song at a live show in London recently and the studio version captures their glitzed-out rock star personas that surges with big, cocky riffs and Farrell's widescreen vocal work. It doesn't hit like it did when the band were making waves on the alt-rock scene so the title feels a bit off if nothing else, but it's cool to hear them try to recapture the magic. "It is different this time," the band says in a press release. "To have everyone back together, releasing new music. It's time. Welcome to the next chapter of Jane's Addiction. 'Imminent Redemption' is only the beginning."
