Last year, Faye Webster shared the songs "But Not Kiss" and "Lifetime" as standalone singles. We now know that both of those songs will appear on her upcoming album, Undressed at the Symphony. In addition to those tracks, the new record will also feature Webster's new single, "Lego Ring," and seven other tracks. "Lego Ring," however, features a guest verse from the auto-tuned rapper Lil Yachty, who, apparently, has been friends with Webster since the two were in middle school. (She refers to him as "boat"!) Despite the unlikely match-up, the two compliment each other quite well and the auto-tune adds a new texture to Faye's undeniable indie charm. It's a cool new step that pushes her music outside of the realm of expectation while still remaining true to her sound. The bass has a loud fuzz that kicks things off and a piano riff to compliment the guitar in the mix, but it's Yachty's underlying vocals that really seal the deal. "I think I hit a point in songwriting during this record where I was just like, man, I said a lot," Webster said in a statement when talking about the album. "The record feels like a mouthful to me, but I don’t always have to be deep. I can just sit down and sing about this ring made of crystal Lego that I really want." I bet this collaboration wasn't on your 2024 bingo card!
Undressed at the Symphony is out March 1.
