Porno for Pyros - "Agua"

As promised, Porno for Pyros are back and have shared their first new song in 26 years.

Porno for Pyros, the band led by Jane's Addiction and Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell that also features Jane's drummer Stephen Perkins, were supposed to go on their reunion tour this year, but that was pushed back to 2024 so the band could work on new music. Now, the band has declared that said tour will be their official "farewell," but a final parting gift will also include the promised new music in the form of an upcoming EP. Today, the band shared the first song from the EP, a track called "Agua," that dates back to their sophomore record Good God's Urge, but didn't make the cut. Inspired by a surfing session in the 1990's when the band encountered a pod of dolphins, it has a distinct alt-rock sound built around a swirling acoustic guitar riff and melody that actually doesn't sound too far off from George Michael's iconic "Faith" or Lorde's recent "Solar Power." Considering it was written back in '97, the track does have a rather distinct feel from the era and while it doesn't push the band's sound forward into any new territory, it does come across as a welcomed return. When speaking on the song and the band's return, Perry said: "Now we're here, and that same heart, that same desire to make music together, has returned. Getting together with these guys has been some of the most fun, the happiest times in my life." Towards the end of the song, Farrell confirms the feeling when he sings "In search of more good times, I seem to find them every day." Hopefully the rest of us can find more of the goodness too.
