The Haxan Cloak - "N/Y"

Bobby Krlic has revived his moniker The Haxan Cloak and delivered his first single under the name in over a decade.

Before he started releasing music for films like Midsommar or Blue Beetle and collaborating with acts like Björk, Father John Misty, or The Body, Bobby Krlic was releasing brooding, foreboding, and sinister electronic music as the name The Haxan Cloak. Now, ten years since his last album, Krlic has revived the project and shared the turbulent new song "N/Y." The song is an ominous, heavy, and brutal work of instrumental electronic music that rises with total fury before bursting with thorny and chaotic rhythms. It's an industrial slab of blistering force, ruthless in its journey that slithers with lethal barbs and metallic shrieks that push the upper limits of physical endurance. When talking about the song, Krlic explained:

“N/Y” is a feeling I’ve had for a really long time. It was made with the intention of being something that I could play live only, and was just this burst of intensity that could re-contextualize anywhere I would play it in. I kept working on it, and it became something that I wanted to hear regardless of the context. I made the video in the same way — making charcoal drawings and oil paintings, then fusing these together with self-shot video of myself in my studio. It feels immediate and without compromise. It was made quickly, in a moment, with complete intention. I really hope it changes the space you’re in.

There's no word on whether there's a new album or what the future may hold for the project, but after ten years this is a much welcomed comeback that feels just as vital, driving, and bold as anything you could've expected.
