Back at the start of June, the sensational Kylie Minogue announced her new album Tension would be out in the fall and shared the record's lead single "Padam Padam." Instantly, the song became an immediate contender (and IMO the frontrunner) for the Song of the Summer and since then, Kylie hasn't released any other tracks from the album. Now, with less than a month to go, she's back with the dance-floor banger "Tension." While "Padam Padam" relished in slow, seductive grooves, "Tension" explodes with expansive rhythm and disco splendor. A striking piano riff that recalls Jessie Ware's latest material kicks off the tune before squelching beats and Kylie's flashy vocals take hold and lead you through high-flying spin moves that are ready to make the club come alive in full psychedelic swing. "Touch me right there" she demands, over and over, and she says it with confidence and intrigue. Clubby '90s effects come into play and her voice floats with such vibrance, you'd be hard-pressed to distinguish it from the reflection of the mirror ball that should be spinning above you as the song blasts away. "I could do this forever with you" she continues and if Kylie remains this bold and takes the lead, it'll be impossible not to follow her to infinity and beyond.
Tension is out September 29.
