Panda Bear and Sonic Boom have shared another single ahead of their collaborative album which is due next week.
Anyone who is familiar with Panda Bear's solo work knows that he's no stranger to samples and on the new collaborative album with his friend and long-time musical partner Sonic Boom, the samples go to new extremes (such extremes that the album was apparently delayed while they were awaiting all the clearances and things got a little expensive along way). "Edge of the Edge" is no exception here and the doo-wop sample on this track (from Randy and the Rainbow's song "Denise") gives it a light, breezy feel that doesn't feel out of place amongst the pop hits of the early '60s. It's also a nice throwback to the effervescent grooves of his masterpiece Person Pitch. You can tell the psychedelic expansions are running deep on this one and the vocal layering is up there with some of Panda's best work. This is an optimal summer track, but it's sure to find a spot in your rotation all year long.
Reset is out August 12 via Domino.
