Panda Bear / Sonic Boom - "Go On"

Noah Lennox and Peter Kember, better known as Panda Bear and Sonic Boom, have announced a collaborative album called Reset and shared the first single, "Go On."

What a year it's been for Panda Bear. Earlier in 2022, his band Animal Collective released their best album in over a decade. He then jumped on a track with French touch duo Braxe + Falcon to put his voice to work on the best song of the year. Now, he's teamed up with long time collaborator Sonic Boom (who mixed and mastered his 2011 album Tomboy and handled production duties on 2015's Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper) for their first album as a duo. Now, with the announcement of their new album Reset, the duo has shared their track "Go On." Taking queues from the '50s and '60s, the duo spoke about how their were influenced by music made from Jamaica during turbulent times and how they applied that to making music in the pandemic. The result is another sample-heavy number that doesn't do much to change up what we've come to love about Lennox's music (that's a good thing) and unveils what seems to be another successful pairing for the duo. The now standard Beach Boy-esque harmonies of layered vocals still prove to be a winning element for Panda Bear and here he does his best to embrace the beautiful magic that human voices can create. This is yet another track steeped in psychedelia, another hallmark of Lennox, but it spins the current troubles of the world into something more positive, a retreat from the sharply tuned focus on all that is wrong and a shift to something more bearable. A soundtrack for whatever it is we're living through and pushing us to just go on.

Reset is out August 12, digitally, and November 18, physically, via Domino.
