Caroline Polachek - "Bang Bang" [Nancy Sinatra cover]

Caroline Polachek continues her run of killer singles with a cover of Nancy Sinatra's timeless hit "Bang Bang."

Over the past few years, Caroline Polachek has been on a tear. Last year, she dropped the song "Bunny is a Rider" which I thought was really good, but many thought it was stellar. This year, she clapped back with "Billions," which I think is even better than last year's hit. She's also jumped on some other songs like the killer "New Shapes" with Charli XCX and Christine and the Queens. Today, however, she's shared her cover of Nancy Sinatra's classic "Bang Bang" which appears on, of all things, the soundtrack to Minions: The Rise of Gru soundtrack that was produced by Jack Antonoff. (You really can't make this stuff up!) It's a phenomenal take on the original and feels like a Caroline Polachek song by way of stunning vocals, punching horns, and thundering production. She pays great homage to Sinatra on this one, but the real *moment* comes at the end when she introduces an all too brief interpolation of Sister Nancy's dancehall anthem "Bam Bam" which brings the song to a whole new level just before signing off. It's an incredible beat and a supreme culmination on a track that was already a hit. Caroline continues to defy expectations here and nails the landing here, bang bang indeed.

Minions: The Rise of Gru soundtrack is out now!
