Lavender Country - "I Can't Shake the Stranger Out of You"

Lavender Country is set to release their new album, Blackberry Rose and Other Songs and Sorrows From Lavender Country, on February 18 via Don Giovanni. It's their first in nearly fifty years!

Lavender Country is the name under which Patrick Haggerty made history by becoming the first openly-gay country artist. In 1974, the band released their debut, self-titled album and settled into their comforts amongst die-hard fans and record collectors. Thanks to the power of the internet and well-earned discovery, the album was reissued in 2014 and made available at a much larger scale. In 2019, Lavender Country released a small batch of self-released CDs at their shows called Blackberry Rose and in 2020, Trixie Mattel covered the original version of "I Can't Shake the Stranger Out of You." Now, with the first edition of the album stripped from streaming services, LC has revealed a new version of the record will become available via Don Giovanni and it will include re-recorded songs as well as an updated tracklist. The first offering is a new take on "I Can't Shake the Stranger Out of You" which has been entirely re-recorded and features the LC backing band in-full. This is a simple, classic country song full of swinging strings, twangy guitars, and wholesome harmonies. It's a love song from the '70s that feels just as vital as it does now in all its polished glory.

Blackberry Rose and Other Songs and Sorrows From Lavender Country is out on February 18 via Don Giovanni.
