Now a duo, Sleater-Kinney have announced a new album and shared the lead single "Worry With You."
Following their glammed-up, St. Vincent-produced album The Center Won't Hold, Sleater-Kinney have announced a new, follow-up record. It's their first one recorded without Janet Weiss since 1996 and the first that was produced entirely by Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein. Path of Wellness was written and recorded entirely during lockdown in Portland and Tucker and Brownstein recruited local musicians to help them bring these songs to life. While their last record seemed to find the band taking a lot of risks and pushing forward new sounds that flirted with synth-pop and more electric hooks, all of which paid off in my opinion, this feels like their back-to-basics album that features more of a lo-fi sound than the high production values Annie Clark brought to the table. It's a return to their indie-rock roots and a very welcomed one at that.
Path of Wellness is out June 11 via Mom + Pop.
