Following last year's excellent Plum, Widowspeak are back with a new digital EP that includes a remix, covers, and a few new ones as well.
Widowspeak excel in quiet pleasures. Their hushed, bedroom pop bristles with quaint folk textures and continuously feels like a breath of fresh country air. "Sanguine" is no exception and is a wonderful new track that is tucked into their delightful new EP. (The R.E.M. cover is also not something to skip.) Honeychurch won't win over new fans for the group, but is a wonderful addition for those already taken with the band's delightful charm. Like other events of the week, it feels like a slight sigh of relief and a much needed balm for us all.
Honeychurch is out now via Captured Tracks.
