Sufjan's new record The Ascension is due on September 25 and today he has shared the second single from the album, "Video Game."
Following the epic "America," the newest song from Stevens is an electronic bop that is both mellow and yet upbeat. It's a rather new direction for him and combines elements of his past while creating something entirely different than what we've come to expect from the artist. Gentled drum beats are embellished with soft electronics that give the song an amazing pulse and rhythm. From his state projects, to Age of Adz, to Carrie & Lowell, Sufjan has consistently surprised his fans with new sounds and sonic templates from which he draws inspiration and The Ascension is shaping up to be another fork in the road on his unbelievable journey. I can't wait to see where this one takes us.
