The Rolling Stones - "Scarlet" (ft. Jimmy Page)

The Rolling Stones are set to reissue their underrated 1973 album Goat's Head Soup on September 4 and it will feature a classic rock holy grail featuring another living legend, Mr. Jimmy Page.

In the war of classic rock, I am always a Beatles-guy. However, in the early 70s, the Rolling Stones took the crown of the biggest rock and roll band in the world. A title that surely made Led Zeppelin (and others) a little jealous. Through a run of albums from 1968-1973, the Stones truly were on top of their game and released classic record after classic record. Now, nearly fifty years later, a mythical dream collaboration has surfaced. Recorded in 1974, but kept in the vaults until now, the Rolling Stones wrote a song with guitar god Jimmy Page and it's finally seeing the light of day. According to Keith Richards, “my recollection is we walked in at the end of a Zeppelin session. They were just leaving, and we were booked in next and I believe that Jimmy decided to stay. We weren’t actually cutting it as a track, it was basically for a demo, a demonstration, you know, just to get the feel of it, but it came out well, with a line up like that, you know, we better use it.” It's a collaboration of legendary status, the biggest band in the world teaming up with the best guitar player of the era for something that could've reached epic heights. In what could've turned into a contest of rockstars trying to out-do one another, this is actually a bit more subdued and really shows off their skills and natural abilities to just jam.
