After spending some time playing shows to celebrate the ten year anniversary of their excellent 2008 record Furr, Blitzen Trapper will follow-up 2017's Wild and Reckless with their debut for Yep Roc. As expected, the track follows the band's alt-country styles with perfectly injected twang to compliment their grizzled rock. Their flare for 70s inspired folk-rock is still strong and the gentle melodies on this track wonderfully compliment lead singer Eric Earley's soft, comforting vocals and existential lyrics. According to their Bandcamp page, the record was "inspired by George Saunders’ 2017 experimental tome, Lincoln in the Bardo and the Tibetan Book of the Dead." Holy Smokes Future Jokes is out on Sept. 11 via Yep Roc.
