Carly Rae Jepsen is set to (finally) release her new record, Dedicated, on May 15. "Julien" is the latest taste of the album and continues to build upon the hype of past singles.
In the lead up to her new record, Jepsen had already been on a run of pop hits with the likes of the stellar "Cut to The Feeling" and "Party For One" before sharing "Now That I Found You" and "No Drug Like Me" earlier this year. "Julien," the opener to the new album, veers slightly from the formula we've come to expect from Carly Rae and in turn takes on a more synth-pop tone that still serves up a solid jam and sparkles at all the right moments. Disco rhythms fill the song as it finds its groove and slowly unveils itself as a softer dance track that has much more complexity than her past bangers. It's a wonderful taste of a more mature artist and only adds to the excitement of one of the season's most anticipated records.
