Almost two years to the day after releasing their first songs, dream-pop trio Helen has released their first full-length record, The Original Faces, via Kranky.
While Liz Harris is best known for her work under the moniker Grouper, her latest endeavor, Helen, finds her moving towards blown-out shoegaze and lo-fi jangle guitars. Joined by Jed Bindeman (of Eternal Tapestry) on drums and and Scott Simons on guitar/bass, ethereal vocals still wrap the track, but with a more fully loaded and distorted sound, the feelings seem richer and more full filling.
